COL. Rupert Franklin “Frank” Glover (November 23, 1932 – November 8, 2014)
Rupert Franklin “Frank” Glover, 82, entered through the portals to the Grand Lodge above this Saturday, November 8, 2014 at home. In hospice care prior to his death, Frank passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Rock of Ages Church in Leavenworth, KS on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 from 1:00 – 2:30p.m., a Masonic service at 2:30 pm, followed by a Memorial service at 3:00 p.m. A celebration of Frank’s life reception dinner will be immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to The Guidance Center, 500 Limit St. Leavenworth, Kansas or Rock of Ages Church, 1017 Randolph St. Leavenworth, Kansas, Shriners Hospitals for Children, and Rite Care. Frank was born November 23, 1932 in Cumming, Georgia, to Winfred and Daisey (Chadwick) Glover. He attended the University of Nebraska for his undergraduate degree and received his Master’s Degree from the University of Kansas.
Frank served his country in the Army until 1978, attaining the rank of Colonel. On August 10, 1956, he married the love of his life and best friend, Virginia “Anne” (Huff) Glover. During his life he was blessed with the birth of four children, Robert Lee (Kathleen) Glover, Vicky Anne (Steve) Kaaz, Cathy Lynne Wright, and Linda Kaye Schmidt (Mike Rulewicz), 14 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren, along with many other young people who also affectionately referred to him as “grampa”.
He was preceded in death by his parents Winfred and Daisey Glover, and his brother Edwin Glover. Following his retirement from military service, Frank dedicated himself to his growing family and making life better for those less fortunate than himself. He was an active member of the Rock of Ages Church, the Abdallah Shriners, Hancock Lodge #311, the Armed Forces Scottish Rite, Valley of Ft. Leavenworth and Ft. Leavenworth Chapter 154 of the National Sojourners.
