Friday Masonic Funeral for Bro. Joe Madenjian

Bro. Joe Madenjian

Brothers.  It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Brother Joe Madenjian, a long-time member of our lodge.  After losing his beloved wife, Ann, in 2009, Joe moved out of the area to be near his sons.  He was sorely missed by his Hancock brothers who regarded Joe and the nicest guy you’d ever want to meet.  Prior to his departure, Joe was ever present at our meetings, especially our Sojourner meetings where he brought a dose of humor that was perfectly dispensed and served as a remedy to what ever ailed you.

The Masonic Funeral will be 1000 hours at the Belden-Larkin Funeral Home, 707 South 6th Street, Leavenworth.  Please bring your apron, if you have one, and plan to arrive by 0945 hours for line-up.  Visitation begins at 0900 hours.  The church funeral service is scheduled for 1100 hours at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 209 North 7th Street.  Burial will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery with military honors.  The family suggests contributions in lieu of flowers.  A memorial contribution to the Kansas Masonic Foundation in Joe’s name would be a fitting tribute.

“Advance Night” March 2, 2017

Brothers,  The first (and only)  stated in March will be on the 2nd starting with a delicious repast provided by our local Job’s Daughters of Bethel #28.  The stated meeting will be our last prior to the Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of Kansas.  Maximum attendance is requested since we’ll both preparing for the trip to Topeka and completing as much March business as possible.  Here’s the schedule:

  • 1800 Hours – Dinner provided by Job’s Daughters (freewill donation requested since Job’s Daughters is doing this as both a courtesy and as a fundraiser
  • 1900 Hours – Stated Communication.  This is “Advance Night” meaning officers will rotate to the next higher position while the WM takes the Tyler’s station.  While this move gives the officers a preview of what they need to prepare for, it also is often proves interesting if not quite entertaining.

Masonic Education: TBA

  • 17-18 March 17Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of Kansas.  Topeka.  All Master Masons are encouraged to attend.   Past Masters and three principle officers of the lodge are all voting members and should attend.  Hancock Lodge is assisting with the floor furniture for Grand Lodge again this year.  Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Please ensure you pre-read the Minutes and Consent Agenda prior to arrival.  Guests are requested to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the meeting time for the customary examination.
